These scholarships will be applied for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Questions can be directed to the Scholarships Team at 303-678-3695 or Foundation Scholarships The Front Range Community College Foundation Scholarship website only accepts applications submitted by students with an FRCC student email account (ending in @student.cccs.edu, or click here for information on how to get a student email account). If you have any questions during this process please call 303-678-3695 and/or email Foundation Scholarships NEW for 2020-2021 APPLICANTS : The following key changes have occurred to our General Application process. Please note that these changes do not apply to any named scholarships where donor specified eligibility has been established (i.e. ones that are indicated as “apply-to” scholarships) Completion of the FAFSA or the Institutional Information Income Form is required prior to determining awardees. Please have these forms submitted by April 1, 2020. Though the general scholarship application does not require additional essays or any letters of recommendation, please note that we still have some donors who require additional materials to be considered for their scholarship. After you submit your general application, you will be prompted to view additional scholarship opportunities. It’s recommended you view ALL of them and not just the ones that auto populate and say “additional opportunities you may be qualified for.” We are requesting to know whether or not you have ever been in the foster care system because we have MANY scholarship opportunities available this year for those who have. Frequently Asked Questions Who is eligible to apply for an FRCC Foundation Scholarship? Our scholarships are available for all FRCC students. While some scholarships may require different eligibility requirements, the minimum requirements for our scholarships are: Students must attend FRCC during the 2020-2021 academic school year. Students must be seeking a degree and/or certificate. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If this is your first semester in post-secondary education, we’ll use your high school GPA . If you’ve taken post-secondary classes, utilize that GPA . Students must be taking a minimum of 6 credit hours. What scholarships are FRCC Foundation Scholarships versus other award opportunities? The FRCC Foundation is in many ways a separate non-profit (501c3) entity from the College. Our overhead and administrative costs are paid for by the College, allowing for our donors to donate 100% of their funds to our students. Our staff fundraises for scholarships year-round which are earmarked ONLY for students at FRCC . Unlike other scholarship opportunities, our awards can only be given to students planning to attend or attending our College, which makes our awards highly accessible to our students. Furthermore, our awards are distributed without consideration of any other scholarships, grants, or Financial Aid one may have received so they will only add to – not take away – from other opportunities, including for Veterans. How many scholarships can be awarded by completing the FRCC Foundation application? Our philosophy is to award no more than two FRCC Foundation Scholarships per academic year, per student unless we have reasonable circumstance to offer more. FRCC provides an opportunity to receive a quality education at a fraction of the cost of a four-year institution of private college, so less money goes a lot further at FRCC . How likely am I to receive a FRCC Foundation scholarship? If you complete a well written essay (receiving a median score of equal to or greater than 70%) and you have at least a 250% Pell eligibility (determined through the completion of the FAFSA ), your chances are very good that you will receive one of our scholarships. The majority of students only complete the general application, so your chances greatly increase if you apply for the addition named scholarship opportunities that we provide. More work equals more opportunity and it is worth your time. How much are the FRCC Foundation scholarship amounts? Our scholarships range between $500 and $2500 per award, per year (with the additional opportunity of receiving more than one award). We divide the total award so that it is evenly split per the two semesters, though a scholarship awardee may submit a request to The Foundation to modify the award differently, if needed. How are the FRCC Foundation scholarship awardees determined? Our reviewers for the General Application will be scoring the essay portion of the application ONLY . Each essay is independently reviewed by three reviewers and the median score is your essay score. 80% of the score will be based on the content of the essay (whether the essay question was directly answered, substance, demonstration of why we should invest in the student, communication of any known academic and personal goals, depth), 10% will be on organization and formatting, and 10% on grammar, vocabulary, and fluency. Some of our donors choose to independently review their scholarship applicants, often by a committee of their choosing using the criteria of their choosing. They will be reviewing how well the applicant matches the eligibly requirements of the scholarship and intent, as well as the essay. If your FRCC Foundation Scholarship Application does not include an essay in a PDF format, it will automatically receive a zero and will be rejected from consideration. Some of our donors choose to independently review their scholarship applicants, often by a committee of their choosing using the criteria of their choosing. They will be reviewing how well the applicant matches the eligibly requirements of the scholarship and intent, as well as the essay. If your application is received but your essay is an unreadable, we may provide you with a courtesy call at the number submitted on your application for contact to give you a brief opportunity to resubmit. However, if you want verification that your application has been received and is complete, please feel free to email us at The Foundation and please allow up to 72 business hours for us to get back to you. An email address versus a phone number is purposefully the only option provided because it is the fastest way to get you a response because it is checked by multiple people.
